What is HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl)?
HTV involves cutting a design from colored vinyl sheets using a cutting machine (like a Cricut or Silhouette), weeding out the unwanted parts, and then heat-pressing the vinyl onto fabric. Each color requires a separate layer of vinyl, making multi-color designs time-consuming and expensive.

DTF can reproduce fine lines, small text, gradients, and photographic images with high precision. HTV is limited by the cutting blade — very fine details are difficult or impossible to cut cleanly in vinyl.

DTF transfers bond strongly to fabric fibers and resist cracking, peeling, and fading through repeated washing. HTV can begin to crack or peel after many wash cycles, especially if not applied at the correct temperature and pressure.
When HTV Still Makes Sense
HTV is still a good choice when:

- You're doing very small one-off projects at home or in a small studio
- You want specialty finishes like glitter, holographic, or reflective vinyl that aren't available in DTF
